Mead Botanical Garden is a perfect spot for people who love the outdoors. If you’re someone who enjoys being surrounded by nature, flowers, and beautiful colors, this place is for you. The park has such a relaxed and it’s not as crowded as other popular locations. It’s more of a hidden gem that locals know about, but not many people outside the area are familiar with it. So if you’re looking for a peaceful, natural setting for your engagement session, this is definitely a location to consider.
My approach to photography is all about capturing the beauty of the outdoors with an artistic twist while making sure the couple feels comfortable and connected, so we get plenty of candid moments along the way.

My Top Tips for Engagement Photos at Mead Botanical Garden
If you’re planning a session here, keep these tips in mind:
- Book early for golden hour – The light between 1 and 1.5 hours before sunset is magical.
- Plan for a light walk – wear comfortable shoes and embrace a little adventure
- Bring bug spray and water during summer – Florida heat and mosquitoes are for real.
Why This Is One of My Favorite Spots for Engagement Sessions
When Jen and Nick reached out for their engagement session, they were actually the ones who introduced me to this specific part of Mead Botanical Garden. I had visited before and walked the trails, but this hidden corner was something special.
Their Mead Botanical Garden photos came out so dreamy because the location offered everything in one spot:
- A flower garden that changes with the seasons
- A wide open field, perfect for picnic setups or movement shots
- A peaceful lake with a walking path and beautiful reflections
If you’re looking for variety without hopping between locations, this spot has it all. And if you time it right, the golden hour light peeking through the tall trees is absolutely stunning.
Favorite Photo Backdrops at Mead
One of the best areas for engagement photos at Mead Botanical Garden is the floral garden. Depending on the season, you’ll see roses or other flowers blooming. When I photographed Jen and Nick, the roses were out of season—but the garden still looked incredible with other type of flowers.
There’s also an open grassy field that’s ideal for laid-back picnic photos. Add a blanket, a little basket, maybe a few fresh flowers, and you’re set. It’s simple, but adds such a warm, romantic vibe to your gallery.
What to Wear for Your Session
For this setting, I recommend:
- Light tones and earthy colors to complement the natural surroundings
- Flowing fabrics for movement and softness
- Outfits that feel comfortable and relaxed so you can explore freely
- Something that makes you feel you.
This garden is full of greens, soft neutrals, and natural textures, so your wardrobe should feel like an extension of that.
Best Time for Photos at Mead Botanical Garden
I suggest starting your session about 1 to 1.5 hours before sunset. We shot Jen and Nick’s session around 6:00 PM in spring, and the light was perfect.
If you wait until actual sunset, the light gets too low behind the tall trees. You’ll miss those magical light pockets that make Mead Botanical Garden photos so special.
